(GREENSBORO) -- An acquisition deal to acquire The Timberland Company has been completed by Greensboro-based VF Corporation. The $2.3 billion deal was originally announced in June.
VF Corporation is a lifestyle apparel maker with brands including Wrangler, Nautica and The North Face. Stratham, N.H. based Timberland brings its well known outdoor footwear and apparel lines into the mix.
“This is a tremendously exciting day for VF," said Eric Wiseman, VF Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We are delighted to officially welcome Timberland® and Smartwool® to VF’s family of brands.” “This acquisition strengthens VF’s position within the outdoor industry by adding two strong, global, and authentic brands with significant momentum and growth opportunities."
With $1.4 billion in revenues in 2010, Timberland will become part of VF’s Outdoor & Action Sports coalition. Timberland and Smartwool will remain headquartered in Stratham and Steamboat Springs, Colo., respectively.
