(WINSTON-SALEM) -- By an unofficial vote of 686 to 556, production and maintenance workers at two Forsyth County tobacco plants owned by R.J. Reynolds have again rejected union representation. It will take the National Labor Relations Board about a week to certify the election results.

"We're very pleased that our employees believe that we can best grow our business by working together as one team," said Reynolds spokeswoman Maura Payne.

Unofficially, workers turned down unionization by a 130 vote margin out of 1,242 ballots cast. This is the third time in the last six years RJR workers in the Triad have rejected a union.
