US Airways sets record December load factor

(TEMPE, Ariz) -- US Airways Group, Inc. reported Thursday that its mainline revenue passenger miles for December was 4.9 billion, up 3.6 percent versus December 2010. Mainline capacity was 6 billion available seat miles, up 2.2 percent versus December 2010.

The airline with its largest hub in Charlotte recorded a record mainline passenger load factor in December of 81.9 percent. This is up 1.1 points versus December 2010.

"We finished the year with an outstanding operational performance, including our Company's best December and fourth quarter in on-time, completion factor, baggage handling and departure performance," said US Airways' President Scott Kirby.

The U.S. Department of Transportation also reported that US Airways preliminary on-time performance for December was 87.8 percent.
