North Carolina officials said Tuesday that the maker of the Hoover, Dirt Devil and Oreck vacuum cleaners plans to hire about 200 over the next two years and invest of up to $5 million for a new Center of Excellence for Marketing & Innovation in Mecklenburg County.
Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries has apparently already begun hiring for some of the future Charlotte marketing center positions; the company lists available jobs in IT, design and marketing, some of them have already been posted for three months.
Compensation will vary by job function, but the average annual compensation for the new positions is expected to be approximately $103,618 plus benefits. The overall average wage in Mecklenburg County is less than $60,000.
The company will receive tax breaks near $4 million, the receipt of the award is based on state-certified proof of job creation and other performance targets.
