(RALEIGH) -- The snow we were expecting this week probably will not materialize for much of the state. But National Weather Service Meteorologist Scott Sharpe said it is going to get colder after this system passes this week.
"The main concern now is that whatever residual moisture is left of the roads Wednesday night, it may actually freeze and create patches of black ice by Thursday morning. We are anticipating temperatures by Thursday morning to be in the mid to upper 20's," said Sharpe.
The whole state could use some rain since abnormally dry conditions prevail in most areas. "This rainfall here will help tremendously if we get the amount forecast. We could see from three-quarters to as much as an inch and a quarter of rainfall with this system. If that does materialize that would be really great for the reservoirs and for the ground water table," said Sharpe.
