(RALEIGH) -- N.C. State University head basketball coach sidney lowe resigned on Tuesday. The task of looking for the next coach begins Wednesday, according to the woman in charge of making that hire.

Athletic Director Debbie Yow said the search for a new coach will be strictly by the book. "The first order of business is to select a search firm," said Yow.

She knows patience may be needed since most of the candidates of interest will likely be coaching in the NCAA Tournament. "When those people are ready to talk, as soon as they are available to talk we will be visiting with them. Yow does not have a timetable on the search because she said she wants the right man for the job.
