(PITTSBORO) -- Chatham County officials take the first step on a future 9-11 memorial with special ceremonies on Saturday, March 26.
Spokesperson Debra Henzey says the ceremony will feature actual wreckage from the World Trade Center. It was retrieved by a Chatham County official from New York City earlier this week.
When constructed, the Chatham County 9-11 Memorial will serve as a historic memorial for residents of Chatham County and visitors to commemorate the emergency responder heroes and others who lost their lives on 9-11.
There were three separate ceremonies, in Goldston, Pittsboro and Siler City.
This September will mark the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy.
