(CAMP LEJEUNE) -- Crews continue to battle a forest fire at Camp Lejeune that started on the firing range. Brian Haines with the Division of Forest Resources says units from various groups are working on the blaze.

The fire actually started last weekend, but spread rapidly in dry, windy conditions on Thursday. Haines says he hopes more favorable weather conditions will help get the fire under control.

Marines at Camp Lejeune had been doing training with weapons the day the fire started, but officials haven't yet confirmed that's what started the blaze.

So far, the fire has burned nearly 10,000 acres of land in Onslow County.
