(RALEIGH) -- The North Carolina Education Lottery is doing very well this fiscal year, according to those in charge of it. Executive Director Alice Garland said they expect this year to be a great deal more profitable.
"We believe at this point that our fiscal year (20)-11 sales will outpace fiscal year (20)-10 and that our fiscal year (20)-11 return to the state will outpace fiscal year (20)-10, so we're still seeing nice, solid growth," said Garland.
The lottery transferred more than $119 million dollars to the state last month. While most of the money went to education, $2.4 million was pulled out to cover a shortfall in Medicaid. That move was mandated by the General Assembly.
