(RALEIGH) -- The State Senate Budget Committee approved a new spending measure for the next two years. Senate President Pro-Tem Phil Berger said the measure is fair.
"Our goal is to adopt a budget that's balanced, that does not include tax increases and that reducing spending and we think we've done that and we think we've done it in a way that should enable us to get a budget that other folks who may have been opposed or at least resistant in the past can support," said Berger.
The bill is slated for the first of two required votes on the Senate floor on Tuesday.
