(GREENSBORO) -- The Greensboro police chief is calling it a sad day. Three people, including a child, were killed late overnight Thursday morning at an apartment complex. Two others were injured.
Police Chief Ken Miller said the shooting suspect used an assault rifle and is the former partner of one of the victims. "I think when you come to a scene like this, it's a horrific scene. It just is. You've got multiple people shot, injured, many, many rounds discharged," said Miller.
A suspect fled from police but was apprehended. Miller said it could have been domestic in nature. "I don't think any of us can find the right words to describe what this means and why people would engage in that kind of behavior."
Police identify the deceased victims as Joshua Samuel Prago, 34, Jason Rcom, 6 and Hdingh Nie. The suspect, Hoanh Rcom, 34 is Jason Rcom's father. The child's mother, Hli Wie, 29 was being treated at Baptist Hospital with a gunshot wound to a hand.
Hoanh Rcom is charged with three counts of first degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
