(RALEIGH) -- Another extremely hot day is on tap for Thursday in North Carolina. The good news is pleasant temperatures should return by the weekend.

Phil Badgett of the National Weather Service said a weather system is on the way that will bring some relief. "We should get another break here like we did last weekend with an easterly flow beginning later on Thursday lasting into the weekend and it looks like high will probably back off, if we do get enough clouds, maybe one day in there we should stay in the 80's again," said Badgett.

In North Carolina last week there were at least three 100-degree days.
