(HILLSBOROUGH) -- The civil trial for former North Carolina Senator and presidential candidate John Edward will be delayed until March 26, 2012. Orange County Superior Court Judge Carl Fox issued the order on Tuesday.

The civil trial centers around who owns a purported sex tape of Edwards. The delay in the civil trial is being ordered because of a pending criminal case against Edwards involving charges he violated campaign finance laws. Edwards' attorneys sought the delay in the civil case siting that information disclosed from that trial could taint his criminal case.
