(GREENSBORO) -- A new Elon University Poll shows that 56 percent of North Carolina voters oppose or strongly oppose an amendment to the state constitution that would ban same-sex marriage. Andrew Spainhour, a lawyer for Greensboro-based Replacements Ltd said the amendment concerns his boss.
"Bob Page, who is the founder and CEO of our company, he planted this business here in 1981, he has said very, very clearly that had this happened in 1981 he would have gone somewhere else," said Spainhour.
State lawmakers will come back to Raleigh next week. They are likely to take up the Defense of Marriage Act. If approved, North Carolina voters would decide in the November 2012 election if a constitutional amendment should state that marriage is between one man and one woman.
Replacements Ltd is a global retailer of replacement items for china, crystal patterns and more. The company is famous for allowing its employees to bring their pets to work with them.
