(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Sen. Kay Hagan says she is supportive of what President Obama is offering to spur job growth. She had to remain in Washington as the President paid a visit to North Carolina on Wednesday to promote his $447 billion jobs plan.
She said she has some of her own ideas that she hopes are part of the finished product. "My bill called the America Works Act, it's really focused on the community college level, being sure that the training and the certificate degrees that come forward are applicable to jobs that are open in the industry," said Hagan.
Hagan is also pushing a proposal that would lead to hiring more veterans. "Our veterans in North Carolina have a higher unemployment than civilians and if you look at the job skills, the fact that they work under pressure, they've got such good job skills, we need to help be sure that our veterans, our national guards and our reservists can also be employed," added Hagan.
