(FAYETTEVILLE) -- Two teens have been charged in the Monday afternoon shooting at Cape Fear High School in Fayetteville. The shooting left 15-year-old student Caitlyn Abercrombie with a bullet wound to the neck.
Eighteen year old Ta'Von McLaurin is charged with felony aiding and abetting and is due in court Tuesday. A 15-year-old boy was also charged in the case but is not being identified because he is a juvenile. The juvenile is charged with attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Following surgery, Abercrombie was said to be in fair condition at Cape Fear Valley Hospital. The weapon used in the shooting is described as a .22 caliber single-shot rifle.
"The best we can ascertain, she was just a random victim. Whether it was intended for her or someone else, we don't know exactly," said Cumberland County Sheriff Earl "Moose" Butler.
