(RALEIGH) -- North Carolina lawmakers are returning to Raleigh Monday for another look at the redistricting maps, which has triggered a lawsuit by four groups. Jo Nichols, of the North Carolina League of Women Voters, said the new maps are a scheme to split precincts based on race.
"It has been with great dismay that we have witnessed the partisan posturing and the manipulation that has dominated this year's redistricting process," said Nichols.
Lawmakers plan to fix what is called a computer code error. The error left out more than 200 portions of the state from redistricting laws approved in July. But Supporters of the redistricting maps say if the claims against the maps are correct, then the maps would not have received pre-approval from the U.S. Justice Department.
