(RALEIGH) - One person is dead and three more are injured following a four-vehicle accident on I-40 West Friday afternoon near the Raleigh-Durham International Airport
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says Joshua Cobb, 19 of Snow Camp, died as a result of his injuries sustained in the accident. He was driving a 2000 white Ford pick-up truck for TMI Services that careened off I-40 near Aviation Parkway.
Investigators believe a blue pick-up driven by Zachary Jones slowed down while traveling on I-40 West near Aviation Parkway to avoid hitting debris that was in the road. That move may have set a chain reaction that that resulted in the accident.
Jones, as well as Ansley Meyer and Charles Oskins, was taken to Rex Hospital with injuries. Meyer was driving a Monterro, which was flipped upside down; Oskins was her passenger.
All westbound lanes were closed for at least three hours.
