(CHAPEL HILL) - The tuition and fee advisory task force for the University of North Carolina approved 15.6 percent tuition hike recommendation for in-state students and 6.5 percent hike for out-of-state students.
The Board of Trustees will hear the proposal, which will be presented by Chancellor Holden Thorp, on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Daily Tar Heel newspaper reports the proposal was hotly debated at the two-hour meeting.
The proposed increase is more than double than the self-imposed cap of 6.5 percent on in-state students.
