(MOYOCK) -- The Outer Banks is becoming a popular spot for destination weddings. Diane Nordstrom, tourism director for Currituck County, said couples from coast-to-coast prefer the scenic locations.

"Eleven miles of our beaches are four-wheel-drive beaches, so there are some homes, including one home up there that has 23 bedrooms that you can rent for your wedding that is all in the four-wheel-drive area," said Nordstrom.

She added that at least 3,000 weddings a year occur on the Outer Banks.  This comes from a current trend where more and more couples want to experience "destination weddings."
