(HILLSBOROUGH) -- Prosecutors in the Laurence Lovette murder trial called a Bank of America manager to the stand to go through attempts allegedly made by Lovette and Demario Atwater to take money from Eve Carson's account. Stan Godwin of Bank of America said $1,400 was taken over two days until the bank took action.
"Bank of America had placed transaction stops on the card. That means that the card would not have been accepted for any reason at an ATM machine or as a point of sale transaction at any merchant anywhere," said Godwin.
The ATM card was used after Carson was killed. Lovette faces a life sentence if he is convicted of the murder in the 2008 death of Carson, who was the UNC Student Body President at the time. Because he was 17 at the time of murder, he is not subject to the death penalty.
