(CHARLOTTE) -- Lower gas prices will fuel more travel this upcoming holiday travel period in North Carolina. Tom Crosby of AAA Carolinas said more people may be willing to take that holiday trip since gas is the cheapest it has been since the price peaked in May of this year.
"North Carolina is like $3.24 a gallon and really that's only 30 cents more than it was last year at this time," said Crosby.
The 11-day year-end holiday will see 2,592,000 North Carolinians traveling with 2.38 million driving and 155,600 flying and 51,800 traveling by other means. This represents a 3.6 percent increase over last year’s travel totals.
