(RALEIGH) -- The state will raze and reconstruct a dozen bridges in Johnston County.
Contracts for the work will be awarded in April with work starting shortly thereafter. Replacing all of the bridges is expected to take up to three years
N.C. 210 bridge over Swift Creek near Smithfield N.C. 210 bridge over Swift Creek's overflow near Smithfield N.C. 96 bridge over Buffalo Creek north of Selma The Benson-Hardee Road bridge over East Mingo Swamp near Benson The Juniper Church Road bridge over Hannah Creek near Four Oaks The Bizzell Grove Church Road bridge over Moccasin Creek near Pine Level The Shoeheel Road bridge over Long Branch north of Micro The Shoeheel Road bridge over Buffalo Creek north of Micro The Micro Road bridge over Buffalo Creek north of Micro The Old Beulah Road bridge over Little River north of Micro The Eldridge Road bridge over Mill Creek near Newton Grove The Old Stage Road bridge over Little Black Creek near Angier
The N.C. 210 bridge project will force a lengthy detour for drivers headed into Smithfield from McGee's Crossroads and the Cleveland community.
