Pres. Obama to deliver nomination acceptance at Bank of America Stadium

(CHARLOTTE) -- The Democratic National Convention takes place in Charlotte in early September and most of the event will be hosted at Time Warner Cable Arena, except one.  President Barack Obama will accept his party's nomination at the much larger Bank of America Stadium.

 

"On the final day of the 2012 Democratic National Convention, President Obama will take the stage in Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, to accept the nomination of the Democratic Party as president with tens of thousands more people by his side," said Steve Kerrigan, CEO of the DNC.

The formal activities of the DNC will also be shortened from four days to three days.  The traditional Monday, September 3 start of the Convention is being set aside as a day of celebration and organization with a specail Labor Day event at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Convention will gavel into session at Time Warner Cable Arena on Tuesday September 4.  President Obama will address the Convention on Thursday evening, September 6.
