(RALEIGH) -- The 2012 Emerging Issues Forum wraps up on Tuesday in Raleigh with an address from Gov. Bev Perdue. This year the two day event is concentrating on the younger generation of citizens.

Former Gov. Jim Hunt is the founder of the Institute for Emerging Issues and he said the focus of this year's forum is on generation "Z". Gen "Z" is roughly those who were born between 1990 and 2002.

"Each year we pick out the things that we need to learn more about, things that are beginning to happen, just beginning. And that's why we need to learn about it and, of course, they need to learn from us," said Hunt.

Leaders from across the state are participating in the forum and exploring this youngest generation that is a digitally savvy and globally aware group. This group can out pace most of their elders when it comes to things like technology.
