(RALEIGH) -- A new study from the Pew Center on the States finds many voter registrations have some sort of flaw, ranging from incorrect addresses to being registered in multiple states to still being listed as eligible to vote after death. North Carolina Board of Elections Director Gary Bartlett said there are systems in place to make sure the voter rolls are as accurate as they can be.
"We check for duplicates. We check for those who are deceased and we check for felons," said Bartlett. "We do all of these cross checks to insure the accuracy of the election and the accuracy of the voter registration record."
The Pew Report noted that states are looking as ways to use technology, such as the internet to register or make changes to voter records. Bartlett said this could be something North Carolina explores in the future.
