(RALEIGH) -- It has been a mild winter, and much of North Carolina has also seen below normal for rainfall. State Climatologist Ryan Boyles said even though we have seen some, there is still cause for concern.
"It's not until we start looking at where the water table level is this time of year versus normal. That's the objective data we have to really suggest that not only have we been dry, but it's going to take substantial moisture for us to still try and have recovery. It can still happen," said Boyles.
Right now, four counties in North Carolina are classified as being in severe drought while another 40 counties are in moderate drought.
