(RALEIGH) -- The latest poll conducted my Elon University suggests President Obama could win North Carolina rather than presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney. More than a quarter of North Carolinians do not know how they feel about Romney, according to the poll.

Polling director John Robinson said this is certainly good news for the President. "Forty-nine percent, almost 50 percent, of the people that the Elon poll spoke with said that they had a favorable impression of President Obama, which is about where he has tracked the last several times we have asked this question," said Robinson.

When asked about the former Massachusetts Governor, 43 percent of those polled expressed unfavorable views about Romney; 28 percent held favorable views, and another 28 percent said they did not know how they felt.
