(RALEIGH) -- Ten jurors have been seated in the capital murder trial of Jason Williford who is accused of killing North Carolina State School Board Member Kathy Taft in March 2010.
Jury selection has gone on for nearly a month. Among the reasons for the selection process going so slowly is the required explanations of the law in death-penalty cases. Judge Paul Gessner has made sure jurors understand that they could be seeing gruesome evidence such as autopsy photos as well as images taken when Taft was undergoing medical treatment.
Williford, 32, is accused of sexually assaulting and murdering Taft while she was recuperating at a friends home in Raleigh from a surgical procedure.
Jurors may also hear evidence about Williford's sexuality and sexual acts.
Jury selection continues on Friday.
