Edwards Attorneys Ask Judge to Dismiss Case |

Forced to listen to his own lies, John Edwards watched a videotaped interview from ABC's nightline on the final day of the prosecution's case Thursday.
The video from August 2008 was the first time that Edwards publicly admitted having an affair with Rielle Hunter. He maintained during the interview, however, that the affair ended "a long time ago" and was adamant that Hunter's baby wasn't his and that he knew nothing about any money that Fred Baron, his campaign finance chairman, had paid to Hunter. Edwards said on the 2008 tape, "I've never paid a dime of money to any of the people that are involved. I've never asked anybody to pay a dime of money. I've never been told that any money has been paid." Defense lawyers for Edwards will ask a judge today to dismiss corruption charges against their client, arguing prosecutors failed to prove the former presidential candidate intentionally violated the law.
