(RALEIGH) -- Even after deciding not to seek a second term, Democratic Gov. Bev Perdue's popularity continues to decline. That's according to the latest survey from Public Policy Polling.
"Gov. Perdue is now the most unpopular governor in the country. In our polling 57 percent of voters disapprove of her. Only 31 percent approve. We've polled on about 40 of the sitting governors across the country and nobody has a higher disapproval than her," said pollster Tom Jensen.
He said the low approval rating for Perdue could impact Democrat Lt. Gov Walter Dalton's race against Republican Pat McCrory and Libertarian Barbara Howe. Public Policy polling traditionally conducts polling for Democratic candidates.
