(FAYETTEVILLE) -- Fayetteville police say a medical examiner has positively identified the remains found this week off Gregory Street as those of 26-year-old Denika Jones, who went missing May 15.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Gavin McRoberts says that when investigators discovered the body of her boyfriend, 36-year-old Tommy Webb, inside the home they shared, authorities became concerned for Jones' well-being.

"His body was found inside of the residence that he shared with Denika, he had been shot to death. At that time, we had evidence inside the residence that Ms. Jones was missing and we had reason to believe that she was in danger," he said.

Police have charged 27-year-old Danny Lee Jones Jr., already in federal custody on a probation violation, with double murder and kidnapping.
