(RALEIGH) -- Gov. Bev Perdue has signed a bill that modifies gambling laws in North Carolina so a compact between the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and Gov. Perdue can be carried out. Senator Tom Apodaca of Henderson County said the Cherokees have proven themselves to be responsible in running a casino operation.
"If you have not visited the Reservation and seen what they have done with the gaming and the responsibility they have put forth and how wisely they have spent the revenues from that, I suggest you go soon," said Apodaca.
The average salary for those hundreds of new jobs that are coming as a result of the addition of live dealers will be $65,000. The Cherokee have indicated that they would like to have live dealers working on the floor of the casino by the July 4th holiday.
