(RALEIGH) -- Be prepared for the hottest weather of the year. High temperatures could reach 100 degrees or higher in much of North Carolina over a four-day stretch beginning Friday.

"We have been spoiled with temperatures...near record lows in many areas and it's just going to turn really fast.  It looks like Friday, all the way through the weekend and maybe even into Monday and Tuesday we could be recording 100 degree days," said National Weather Service meteorologist Phil Badgett.

Humid air, which will begin filtering back into the state Wednesday, will make temperatures over the weekend feel more like 108 degrees or higher.
