(RALEIGH) -- North Carolina U.S. Rep. David Price is witnessing the start of a new nation in Africa as part of an official delegation to Tunisia. Price is in Tunisia, helping the African nation write the founding documents of its new government.
That country's leader was overthrown last year amid massive rioting and protests in the streets. Price said the new Tunisian government is consulting with members of Congress and American legal experts.
"We have had consultations in Washington back and forth with legal experts, constitutional experts who have consulted with them and on this trip we have our House Parliamentarian as well as a number of senior members who are talking pretty specifically about what the constitution might contain," said Price.
He added that one of their most difficult tasks is how to incorporate Tunisia's religious beliefs into its founding documents. Price believes Tunisia holds great promise, but certain will face challenges ahead.
