(DAVIDSON) -- Classes have yet to commence at Davidson College, but Chick-fil-A is already not welcome. Bill Giduz, the school's spokesperson said a student petition is behind this latest Chick-fil-A-flap.
"Davidson College has not banned Chick-Fil-A. A group of students started a petition asking for the College Union Board to ban Chick-Fil-A at College Union Board events," said Giduz.
Earlier this week the Huffington Post reported that the College had banned the company from campus. The College Union Board, a student activities organization, has decided not to schedule Chick-fil-A as a meal option at it's “After Midnight” events until they get more feedback from students. Giduz made it clear that the College's administration has nothing to do with this decision or the actions being taken by the Union Board.
Chick-Fil-A has been under fire from gay marriage activists after the company's founder and president Dan Cathy made comments last month in support of traditional marriage. The chain has stressed that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
