(RALEIGH) -- With one of the largest military populations in the county, North Carolina is helping returning veterans recover from the wounds of war. But those injuries are not just physical.
U.S. Army Major Jeff Hall was seriously injured in Iraq, and he said 48 veterans a day attempted suicide in 2011. "Those numbers speak for themselves and what I've learned from them is that they are true numbers and the thing that is most important is that we can recover from war. It does change us, but there is help through The Real Warriors Campaign," said Hall.
The Real Warriors Campaign offers support groups that help service members deal with trauma-related disorders, and teaches them to integrate into family life after a deployment.
