(RALEIGH) -- As more answers are being sought into the meningitis outbreak tied to tainted steroid injections, members of Congress say more regulation is needed of compounding pharmacies such as the one that was found to be the source of the tainted shots.
U.S. Senator Kay Hagan is among those wanting to know more
"Somebody in the U.S. gets an injection from their hospital or from their doctor's office, somebody expects that not to have a mold or fungus growing in it."
Along with several other key senator, Hagan has sent three letters requesting more information from federal and state regulators and the New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts. One person has died in North Carolina from the tainted steroid injections, and a total of 33 nationally.
