Fayetteville Man Dies In Shooting

(FAYETTEVILLE) - The man shot by Fayetteville police Friday morning during a 4 1/2-hour standoff has died.  The man killed is 25 year old Montrez Javon Virgil of the 2500 block of Mesa Drive.

Police fired on Virgil when he emerged around 7 a.m. from the Alco store and gas station at 8385 Cliffdale Road. He was holding a rifle and ignored repeated demands to drop the weapon. Virgil was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Virgil went into the station 2:27 a.m. in what police believe was a planned robbery
