Connecticut Shooting Sparks Gun Control Debates

(RALEIGH) -- As the shock of Friday's mass school shooting wears off, the debate about controlling guns is already starting to surface.

Paul Valone with Grassroots NC, a firearms education group, since the "Gun Free Schools Act" was passed in 1995.

 

"Could it be that we are actually attracting murderers by creating supposedly gun free zones where they know people will be unarmed and vulnerable."

Valone says the debate should not be about which kind of firearms are used, but whether there should be qualified and armed individuals on school campuses.
