(RALEIGH) -- Former state House member Bill Daughtridge has been named Secretary of Administration for Governor Pat McCrory.

The announcement came Thursday as McCrory rounded out his cabinet appointees. Daughtridge says his business experience will benefit him in his new post.

"I've been working the private sector, managing and starting new businesses, I understand how to operate efficiently and effectively, looking in to every penny that is spent."

Daughtridge says his priority is making sure the department is more responsive to taxpayers.
