(RALEIGH) -  Former NC State head basketball coach Sidney Lowe has been arrested and charged with three misdemeanor counts of failing to pay his taxes.

The North Carolina Department of Revenue filed three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a North Carolina tax return against Lowe - who owns a home in Wake Forest - covering the years 2009 through 2011.

Lowe, 53, coached the NC State men's basketball team  from 2006 to 2011 where he had an 86-78 record but only a 25-55 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Lowe is currently an assistant coach with the NBA's Utah Jazz.

Lowe was a player on NC State's 1983 NCAA championship team coached by Jim Valvano.
