Reports - Former Duke Basketball Player Phil Henderson Has Died

(RALEIGH) - Seth Davis of CBS Sports and a former Duke basketball player has tweeted that former Blue Devils guard Phil Henderson has died in the Philippines.

Henderson, 44, played at Duke from 1986-1990 and was a two-year starter who participated in three Final Fours. In his last college game, the 1990 national final, he had 21 points and six rebounds in a 30-point loss to UNLV. He scored 17 of his 28 points in the second half of a semifinal win against Arkansas and averaged 21.7 points in six NCAA tournament games that year.

Henderson almost transferred to Illinois before his senior season, when he averaged 18.5 points for the Blue Devils.

Henderson, who averaged 12.1 points for his college career, was selected 49th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1990 NBA draft. He played in the CBA, Global Basketball Association, Belgium National League and Mexican National League.
