RALEIGH -  A longtime political observer is keeping a close watch on the changes being made by the newly strengthened Republican majority in the General Assembly.

Tom Campbell, host of the Statewide NC Spin program, says this demonstrates a change in another direction.

"It's swinging back, it's swinging to the right, and I think the question is how far is it going to swing," he said. "I think a case can be made that it swung too far to the left, I'm wondering about too far to the right."

Democrats and other liberal groups have already criticized the GOP for moves ranging from undoing the deal on the Dorothea Dix property to making changes to voting laws.
