The U.S. unemployment rate has dropped to a four-year low of 7.5 percent, but North Carolina is still far behind.
165 thousand jobs were added to the national economy in April. Acting Labor Secretary Seth Harris explains where the growth is,
"The leading sector in April, and this has been an important sector over the last several months, is the professional and business services sector. Those are the white collar and office jobs such as accountants and computer services professionals."
North Carolina's unemployment rate remains stubbornly high at 9.2 percent.
