RALEIGH, -- North Carolina’s low-profile First Lady is venturing into public policy for the first time. First Lady Ann McCrory is proclaiming her support for legislation referred to as the “puppy mill bill”, which would establish basic standards of care for large commercial dog breeding facilities.
Mrs. McCrory sent a letter to members of the Judiciary committee on Wednesday, and was in the House gallery on Thursday while the bill was being debated.
The bill passed overwhelmingly and now goes to the Senate.
