RALEIGH - Abortion coverage would be excluded from the health insurance plans that are offered by North Carolina cities and counties under a bill that passed the House on Thursday.

Representative Susan Martin of Wilson County says people who are pro-life shouldn’t be forced for fund abortion through their tax dollars.

"It is my right to say, 'I am not morally comfortable in participating in and exercising in giving someone an abortion.'"

Critics say the measure women will seek out unsafe alternatives if abortions aren’t covered under their health plan.
