WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre has received a national award for his leadership and efforts in promoting safe boating. At a Capitol Hill ceremony, the National Marine Manufacturers’ Association presented the Congressman the National Safe Boating Council’s Confluence Award for “bringing together people, resources and vision toward the betterment of safer boating.
Congressman McIntyre stated, “Boating is big business in North Carolina, and we all must work together to promote and protect boaters and the boating community. I am honored to receive this award, and look forward to continuing to do all I can to encourage safe and fun boating!”
North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District is home to over 48,000 recreational boats, 189 recreational boating businesses, and a total annual economic impact of $487.9 million.
Congressman McIntyre was chosen Co-Chairman of the Congressional Boating Caucus earlier this year.
