The Durham school board has publicly reprimanded Superintendent Eric Becoats for hiring a district bus driver to take his family and friends to private events.
The board says Becoats inappropriately used public resources for private benefit. School board chair Heidi Carter explains what happened.
"The superintendent, used an activity bus, verbally contracted to use an activity bus, from Durham Public Schools, and that is a violation of both board policy and the North Carolina general statute."
Carter would not comment on whether the case will be turned over to law enforcement for investigation.
