RALEIGH - Despite the override this week of Governor Pat McCrory's vetoes, House Speaker Thom Tillis says reports of the rift between state lawmakers and the governor are overblown.
Tillis points that they only parted ways on two bills out of the hundreds that were passed during this year's session.
"We passed about 350 bills. The governor openly disagreed with two of them. The talk about us being at a loggerhead, I think is a
little bit overstated. I think we are moving on and working well with the governor."
The House and Senate overrode vetoes on one bill that would require drug testing for some welfare applicants, and another that gives employers more time to verify their workers' immigration status.
